Bolts and strikesThe patented top latching mechanism utilizes a rotating top bolt which deadlatches around the header strike, interlocking the door to the frame. Supplied with standard header strike. Adjustable protected steel rods. The hexagonal, hardened steel bottom bolt is shielded in a cast housing for strength and stability.
Cylinder compatibilityAccepts any standard 1" [25.4 mm] length, 1-5/32" [29.4 mm] diameter mortise cylinder with MS® cam such as the 4036 Mortise Cylinder. Accommodates cylinder lengths from 1" [25.4 mm] to 1-1/4" [31.8 mm]. Available separately.
DoggingStandard dogging with hex key or optional cylinder dogging. Electric Dogging option has been discontinued. Motorized and Electric Latch Retraction options can replace Electric Dogging requirement, see Options & Accessories.

Door thickness suits 1-3/4" standard, up to 2-1/4", though the device requires modification when used with a cylinder in doors over 1-3/4"; the device itself is non-handed.

Does the 8600 support electrified options?

The spec sheet lists Electric Latch Retraction (LR, solenoid) and Motorized Latch Retraction (MLR) device options plus single-switch (M) and dual-switch (M2) monitoring. Electric Dogging has been discontinued; Adams Rite points to the latch retraction options in its place. Cylinder dogging (C) is printed for non-fire-rated devices only, and an alarm (A) option is listed too.

How tall a door can the 8600 handle?
